Direct, Post-Disaster Permit Support and Time-Saving Look-Up Tool
Terrebonne Parish Consolidated Government, La
Following completion of all Substantial Damage Estimates (SDEs) in Terrebonne Parish, Desire Line reviewed and issued more than 1,000 recovery permits in under two months at a reduced hourly rate appropriate for staff augmentation support. Leveraging Team skillsets, Desire Line developed a time-saving look-up tool that the Parish continues to utilize in daily operations to support a higher-level of service for Parish residents and businesses.
The Terrebonne Parish Permit Lookup Tool, developed and maintained by Desire Line, reduces permit issuance time by approximately 30 minutes per permit by aggregating real-time data across multiple platforms, streamlining permit clerk workflows, and accounting for frequent service interruptions from calls and walk-ins. This accelerated delivery was enabled by an innovative, in-house Permit Support Tool that Terrebonne Parish continues to use to significantly reduce permit processing times. Desire Line provides limited technical assistance to support efficient daily permit operations and to help ensure FEMA National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) compliance for more than 800 substantially damaged properties.
Note: The Desire Line Team is highly skilled and experienced in permit issuance and land use regulation. We apply these skills to assess, clean, and create automations and missing links between existing datasets and processes to reduce the need for extensive editing and human error. The goal of these supportive services is to retain local decision-making by reducing time spent “data-gathering” and allow for more time to consider the implications of land use impacts associated with development applications.
